The Red Tree: This is a beautiful painting with its leaves turning red in a cool autumn field. I used photo reference from photographer @new_englander__ who photographed this tree and the moment I saw it, I thought how cool it would be for the top of the tree to be made up of the texture of the fabric! So the top of the tree is actually upholstery fabric painted red with acrylic paints so the pattern of the fabric gives it that foliage texture. The background of the piece is actually painted on clear acrylic substrate (ie, the glass) with acrylic paints. The video captures how these two are placed together. The glass is sealed with a gloss varnish and the stretched upholstery fabric and and glass are held together in a handmade and hand-painted wooden frame.
