Jamie Wyeth’s “Iris at Sea”

Iris at Sea

Jamie Wyeth’s “Iris at Sea” – I painted this for the Spring Bull Gallery’s Fakes & Forgeries show. Growing up outside of Philadelphia, I’ve always felt a connection to the Wyeths. I also love to paint lighthouses. So when I saw Jamie Wyeth’s “Iris at Sea, I knew I had to interpret into my own style of painting on stretched upholstery fabric (the blue sky background) and acrylic glass (the lighthouse and iris).

The piece measures 15.25″x17.25″ in the frame (12″x14″ out of the frame) and it is acrylic paint on a combination of stretched upholstery fabric and acrylic glass. The glass is sealed with a clear, gloss varnish. The frame is handcrafted and painted by myself.
