Castle Hill Lighthouse Vista – This is the original acrylic painting of the lighthouse located in Newport, RI. It is acrylic paint on stretched upholstery fabric (the background) and acrylic glass (which is what the lighthouse and foreground is painted on). The painting in the frame measures 17.25″ x 27.25″ and it is framed in a handmade poplar frame that is painted gold. The painting is wired and ready to hang.
About the painting: This lighthouse is located in Newport, Rhode Island. I used to work in Newport, RI and loved this lighthouse. I drove there over lunch and snapped a bunch of photos of it to use as reference for this painting. This is actually the fourth illustration produced from that shoot. The background is painted on stretched upholstery fabric and the pattern of the fabric seen in the background gives an energy that permeates the piece. The lighthouse is painted on acrylic glass and then sealed with a gloss varnish. The glass and the stretched upholstery fabric are then held together in the hand-crafted gold frame.
