]]> Conimicut Lighthouse – This is my first painting on canvas in about 5 years. Though I don’t intend to stop painting on fabric, the challenges of trying to fight the porous fabric can get frustrating and daunting when busting out the tiny brushes. So it was a nice change of pace to be able to get all the fine details in place on this Warwick, RI lighthouse.

I am doing an art show in Conimicut Village, and as I have never painted the Conimicut Lighthouse, this seemed like the perfect time to sit down and paint it.

The painting is acrylics on canvas panel and measures 9″x12″. It is framed in one of my handcrafted frames which measures 12″x15″.

]]> On Her Wedding Day: For my next painting, I was looking for something really challenging and different. So I dove into the wedding album photos and found some beautiful photos of my wife on our wedding day. I was not looking to paint a portrait (painting portraits is really difficult!), but rather I wanted to paint something more candid and natural. I was drawn in by not only her beauty, but also the beauty of her pose as she holds her translucent veil that’s been taken by the wind. There’s some beautiful warm and gold colors of the autumn sun that glow in the background opposite the cool blues in the shadows of her gown. Plus all the cascading folds. I found the challenge I was looking for and ended up with a painting I’m very proud of!
