Cherry Blossoms – A few weeks back I was out for a jog and this Cherry Blossom tree caught my eye. I snapped some photos of the blossoms, which became the reference for this painting. 11″x14″, acrylic on canvas board.
Cardinal in Spring – There is just something about the fiery red of the cardinal that is just so much fun to paint. My previous cardinal painting was a wintertime scene, so I wanted to do something different with the cardinal surrounded by the buds of spring. 11″x14″, acrylic on canvas board.
Castle Hill Lighthouse – A tranquil landscape painting at this lighthouse in Newport. Acrylic painting on canvas board – measures 14″x11″.
Point Judith Lighthouse at Dusk – This is an acrylic painting on canvas panel of the Point Judith Lighthouse in Narragansett, RI at sunset with the moon high up in the sky. Warm hues of the dusk surround this New England Lighthouse. 11″x14″, acrylic on canvas panel.
Portland Head Lighthouse: A nice challenging and time-consuming painting – perfect for being cooped up inside, especially on some of the cold, rainy weekends that we’ve had. 20″x16″, acrylics on canvas board.
The Gourds – Looking down my front stair case, I put together these gourds together to make a sort of abstract composition of circles and rectangles. And if you can’t tell, I had a lot of fun painting those gourds! This is an acrylic painting, 16″x20″ on canvas board.
The Blue Jays: 2 blue jays with a yellow-orange foliage background to warm you right up on this winter day! Acrylics on canvas board – measures 16″x20″.
The Pumpkin Patch: I snapped the photo reference for this last year at McCray’s Farm in South Hadley, MA. The first breath of fresh autumn air this year inspired me to pull out this reference and paint the pumpkin the patch! This is an acrylic painting on canvas board, and is 16″x20″.
Day Lily: Green, orange and feels like spring? Seems like the perfect painting to post on St. Patrick’s Day. I had taken a bunch of photos of these lilies in my backyard back in 2014 for a photography course and I always loved them. Fast forward 6 years and they became the subject of my latest painting. Acrylic painting on canvas board – measures 16″x20″.
On Her Wedding Day: For my next painting, I was looking for something really challenging and different. So I dove into the wedding album photos and found some beautiful photos of my wife on our wedding day. I was not looking to paint a portrait (painting portraits is really difficult!), but rather I wanted to paint something more candid and natural. I was drawn in by not only her beauty, but also the beauty of her pose as she holds her translucent veil that’s been taken by the wind. There’s some beautiful warm and gold colors of the autumn sun that glow in the background opposite the cool blues in the shadows of her gown. Plus all the cascading folds. I found the challenge I was looking for and ended up with a painting I’m very proud of!
The Night Owl: I’ve had this idea for years and in my day job as a graphic designer I used this idea for a coffee label. I always loved the visual of this owl with the moon-shaped eyes, so I decided to sit down and paint it. Acrylic on canvas.
The Frog: My latest painting of “The Frog” is for my daughter who is OBSESSED with animals. While we were on a hike about a month ago, we came across this frog and all she wanted to do was pet the frog – haha. He got away, but before he did, I got snapped some reference photos. My daughter loves it and has informed me that it is going up on her wall as soon as it is framed! 11″x14″, acrylics on canvas panel.
Winter Cardinal: Here in the Northeast, a winter storm is setting in, and this painting of a cardinal in a snowy landscape seems all too appropriate. Acrylic on canvas.
The Little Saint Nick: Inspired by a photo of my son taken about 5 years ago, I decided to capture that photo in acrylics with gifts all around him. A fun and festive holiday illustration of my very own “Little Saint Nick”. Acrylic on canvas.
Foxes in Snow Storm: There are cold winters here in New England, so I wanted to paint some nice warm orange foxes to warm the winter scene around them! Acrylic on canvas.
The Butterfly and the Blue Bouquet: My son loves this painting. I’ve actually caught him sneaking off to my office twice to go and stare at it. He has informed me that it’s his favorite painting. It makes me quite happy. Acrylic on canvas board.
