On Her Wedding Day: For my next painting, I was looking for something really challenging and different. So I dove into the wedding album photos and found some beautiful photos of my wife on our wedding day. I was not looking to paint a portrait (painting portraits is really difficult!), but rather I wanted to paint something more candid and natural. I was drawn in by not only her beauty, but also the beauty of her pose as she holds her translucent veil that’s been taken by the wind. There’s some beautiful warm and gold colors of the autumn sun that glow in the background opposite the cool blues in the shadows of her gown. Plus all the cascading folds. I found the challenge I was looking for and ended up with a painting I’m very proud of!
